Americold – Helping our customers Feed the World. Here at Americold Whitchurch we are now recruiting for a Transport Co-ordinator.
As a Transport Coordinator, you will be the main point of contact for drivers, managing work instructions, re-load details, and addressing operational issues such as breakdowns, rejections, and traffic delays. Your role will involve promptly responding to and resolving these issues to minimize driver downtime.
You will be responsible for distributing company communications to drivers, including wage slips, letters, and holiday cards. Ensuring the execution of the transport plan and managing any necessary deviations in a cost-effective manner while maintaining minimal disruption to customer service is key. Your duties will include making decisions in line with Transport Legislation, EU Regulations, and the Working Time Directive.
You will perform fleet status checks as needed throughout the day and communicate any late-running vehicles to the Traffic support team. Additionally, you will manage the night’s handover process, ensuring relevant parties receive necessary updates. Updating ETAs for inbound vehicles to maintain accurate core system visibility for other departments, maintaining and updating all relevant systems, and analysing specific KPIs as set by the Transport Planning Manager are also part of your responsibilities.
You will work closely with the Transport Management team to identify opportunities for continuous improvement and ensure effective communication both internally and externally.
Working Hours: 4 on 4 off basis, 7am – 7pm
Requirements:
- Previous Experience In The Transport Department (essential)
- Excellent geographical knowledge
- Excellent communication skills – written, email, phone, face-to-face
- Commercially focused, customer service driven
- Ability to operate in a fast paced, high-pressured environment
- Ability to communicate at all levels of the business
- Assertive. Fair. Confident.
- Positive ‘can do’ approach
- Competent computer skills and willingness to learn and improve skills as necessary
- Self-driven to overcome obstacles to succeed
