American Traveler is seeking a travel nurse RN Telemetry for a travel nursing job in Portsmouth, Virginia.

Responsibilities:
- Position is on a 21-bed Stepdown/Telemetry unit focusing on a neuro patient population.
- 12-hour night shifts with every other weekend and holiday required.
- Unit staffed with 2 CNAs per shift.
- Heparin gtts and virtual safety companion technology are utilized.
- Dysrhythmia (EKG) testing required at orientation with study guide provided.
- No local candidates accepted; candidates must live at least 50 miles from the facility.
- Primary responsibilities include care coordination, patient and caregiver education, administering medications, and managing patients with complex multi-system needs.
- Expected to advocate for patient safety and quality care in collaboration with an interdisciplinary team.
- Candidates will be interviewed by the manager after clinical review, which may delay offers.
- Testing and vaccination requirements must be met prior to start.
- First time travelers are not preferred for this assignment.
- Scrub or dress code information will be provided during onboarding.
Requirements:
- Active RN license from VA or a compact state required.
- Minimum of 2 years RN experience required.
- Current BLS, ACLS, and NIH Stroke Scale certifications required.
- Stroke certification and neuro experience strongly preferred.
- Previous travel nursing experience preferred.
- Must pass dysrhythmia exam during orientation.
