American Traveler is seeking a Travel MRI Technologist for a position in Portsmouth, Virginia.
Assignment Overview
- Start date: Mar 9, 2026
- Duration: 13 weeks
- Shift: 4 days per week, 10 hours each (40 hours total)
- On‑call: overnight until 7 am; 24‑hour Sunday call rotations twice per month and holiday call coverage
- Employment type: Travel
Responsibilities
- Perform high‑acuity MRI scans in a hospital setting, including pacemakers and anesthesia cases.
- Operate GE MRI and Medtronic pacemaker machines.
- Work independently as needed and adhere to imaging protocols.
- Administer IV contrast agents and perform EKG testing; must pass EKG on the first day (two attempts allowed).
- Use EPIC EHR and PACS systems (preferred).
- Troubleshoot equipment and report malfunctions.
- Provide patient care, instructions, and support before, during, and after procedures.
- Assist in staff training and oversight of MRI students.
- Maintain professional scrubs or facility‑required dress code.
Requirements
- Certification and registration with ARRT in Diagnostic Radiology, Advanced MRI Registry (MR), required or must be obtained within one year of hire.
- Minimum 2 years of hospital MRI experience.
- BLS certification from the American Heart Association required prior to direct patient care.
- Associate’s degree from an ARRT–accredited institute preferred.
- Strong customer service and critical‑thinking skills.
- License required if applicable.
- Local candidates accepted within a 50‑mile radius of the assignment location.
- Must pass EKG testing on the first day (two attempts allowed).
