Principal Structural Engineer

The Opportunity

As a Principal Structural Engineer, you'll take ownership of complex structural engineering packages from concept through to detailed design and delivery.

Working within multidisciplinary teams, you'll provide technical leadership, ensure engineering quality, support project delivery and mentor the next generation of engineers.

  • What You'll Be Doing
  • Leading the structural design and analysis of complex engineering projects within the nuclear sector.
  • Producing and reviewing structural calculations, technical reports, drawings and specifications.
  • Managing technical work packages from initial concept through to successful project completion.
  • Collaborating closely with project managers and multidisciplinary engineering teams.
  • Supporting the preparation of safety cases, engineering substantiation and technical justifications.
  • Ensuring compliance with industry standards, nuclear regulations and quality procedures.
  • Providing technical guidance, mentoring and support to graduate and junior engineers.
  • Identifying opportunities for innovation, continuous improvement and engineering best practice.
  • Supporting successful project delivery by managing technical risks and maintaining high engineering standards.

What We're Looking For

  • Degree qualified in Civil, Structural Engineering or a related discipline.
  • Significant experience delivering structural engineering design within the nuclear sector or another highly regulated industry.
  • Strong understanding of structural design principles, technical assurance and engineering governance.
  • Experience leading technical work packages on complex engineering projects.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • Ability to mentor and develop less experienced engineers.
  • Working towards Chartered Engineer (CEng) status or already Chartered with a recognised professional institution.
  • Full UK driving licence desirable.
  • Eligible to obtain UK Security Clearance.
