Project Environmental Clerk of Works (ECo W) - Major Infrastructure Project

We are recruiting an experienced
Environmental Clerk of Works (ECo W) to join a major onshore cable infrastructure project in Scotland.
This is a site-based role supporting environmental compliance across construction activities.
You will work closely with project teams, contractors, clients and stakeholders to ensure environmental requirements, mitigation measures and consent conditions are effectively implemented on site.
Key Responsibilities
- Act as the environmental representative on site, promoting best practice and maintaining high environmental standards.
- Carry out environmental inspections, audits, ecological surveys and monitoring activities.
- Monitor compliance with environmental consents, licences, CEMP, CES and contractor environmental management plans.
- Support environmental licence and consent applications where required.
- Provide environmental advice and training to site teams and contractors.
- Deliver toolbox talks on environmental risks and control measures.
- Review subcontractor environmental documentation, RAMS and method statements.
- Identify environmental risks, non-compliances and potential incidents, escalating issues and recommending corrective actions.
- Lead or support environmental incident and deviation investigations.
- Monitor areas such as waste, fuel, water quality and other environmental performance indicators.
- Maintain accurate environmental records and compliance documentation.
- Attend client, contractor and stakeholder meetings and act as a site-level environmental point of contact.
- Support environmental planning and develop lessons learned and continuous improvement initiatives.
About You
- Degree, diploma or equivalent in Environmental Science, Ecology, Environmental Management or a related discipline.
- Previous experience on HVDC, renewable energy, utilities or major infrastructure projects.
- Strong knowledge of UK environmental legislation, consenting and construction compliance requirements.
- Experience monitoring environmental controls and mitigation measures at site level.
- Comfortable working with clients, contractors and site teams.
- CSCS or CCNSG card.
- Strong communication skills and a proactive, practical approach.
- Competent with Microsoft Office.
This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced ECo W to join a major UK energy infrastructure project and play a key role in ensuring environmental requirements are embedded throughout construction.
