Design the overhead line networks that keep communities powered. Join UK Power Networks as a Senior OHL Design Engineer and lead the creation of high‑quality OHL design packages for new build and refurbishment schemes from 11 kV to 132 kV—from early-stage concepts through to deliverable drawings and technical reports.

What you’ll do:

  • Produce and check detailed OHL designs, calculations, reports and drawings to UKPN standards and BS‑EN 50341
  • Lead complex design assignments, improving methods and driving high engineering standards
  • Use PLS‑CADD / PLS‑Tower (plus CAD tools) to analyse structures, loads, and foundations
  • Support FEED-stage work with technical reports and presentations
  • Ensure compliance with CDM and relevant legal/regulatory requirements
  • Act as Principal Designer on allocated schemes and provide leadership across the project team

What you’ll bring:

  • BEng/BSc in Civil or Structural Engineering (or equivalent experience) with strong OHL design background
  • Chartered Engineer (or working towards chartership)
  • Hands‑on experience in an OHL engineering environment and confidence producing constructible drawings
  • Proficiency with PLS‑CADD & PLS‑Tower (essential) and CAD tools such as AutoCAD/Microstation
  • Knowledge of UK, European and ENA standards—ideally within a utility provider environment
  • A strong safety culture and practical understanding of CDM (IOSH training advantageous)
