Our client is currently seeking a Senior Highway Engineer to join their team on a permanent basis. This exciting opportunity involves a diverse range of responsibilities, from technical leadership to client liaison and team development.
Key Responsibilities:- Provide technical leadership on complex highway projects from feasibility through design, construction, and handover.
- Ensure compliance with UK standards, high technical quality, effective risk management, and value engineering across multiple schemes.
- Deliver highway design and NEC3/4 projects with expertise in acting as an NEC Project Manager, managing programmes, risks, changes, and client decision‑making processes.
- Act as the main technical and contractual advisor to public‑sector clients, giving advice on risk, cost, phasing, and delivery strategies.
- Maintain high standards of quality assurance, governance, and safety leadership, ensuring CDM and health & safety compliance.
- Mentor and develop junior engineers, supporting their career progression and championing continuous learning and best practices.
- Collaborate with project managers and QS teams to deliver projects on time and budget, supporting resourcing, forecasting, and business growth initiatives.
- Experience in highway engineering, with a strong knowledge of UK standards and practices.
- Proven experience in delivering NEC3/4 projects, including acting as an NEC Project Manager.
- Excellent skills in client and stakeholder management, providing reliable technical and contractual advice.
- A strong track record in quality assurance, governance, and safety leadership.
- Experience in mentoring and developing engineering teams.
- Ability to work effectively in a collaborative team environment.
- Relevant engineering degree or equivalent qualification.
