An opportunity has arisen for an Electromagnetics & Controls Engineer based in Reading, Berkshire to join an exciting start-up specialising in propulsion systems.
The main purpose of the Electromagnetics & Controls Engineer role, based in Reading, Berkshire, will be to own the electro‑magnetic design of motors and the control algorithms that drive them. You will design the electromagnetic architecture of the motor, slot/pole configurations, winding topologies, magnet strategy, rotor and stator geometry - using Motor‑CAD or equivalent electromagnetic FEA.
Key experiences and competencies
- Strong understanding of electromagnetic motor design and motor control algorithm development
- A background in electromagnetic FEA for motor design - Motor-CAD, FEMM, JMAG, or equivalent - with experience optimising winding and magnetic circuit parameters.
- Experience with winding design: conductor selection, turn count and fill factor optimisation, winding topology trade-offs and thermal parameters
