Due to ongoing expansion, we are seeking a highly experienced and motivated Project Engineer to lead the delivery of capital projects (£5m-£20m) across our operational sites. The projects are located in North West Britain and in Scotland. This is an on-site role with travel between sites expected. It is a full-time, permanent position paying up to £65,000 plus car allowance and excellent benefits.
About the role
The primary focus will be on end-to-end management of CAPEX projects, including design coordination, tendering, contractor procurement, onsite supervision and inspection of works, and successful handover. The role also includes secondary responsibility for hazardous and non-hazardous landfill cell engineering and capping projects, ensuring compliance with environmental and safety standards.
What you’ll be doing
- Lead end-to-end delivery of major CAPEX projects
- Coordinate design, tendering and contractor procurement
- Manage CDM compliance, environmental permits and internal governance
- Oversee onsite works, contractor performance and interface management
- Control budgets, forecasting and VOWD reporting
- Drive stage-gate reviews and present progress updates to senior stakeholders
- Manage pre-construction documentation, RAMS, CPP and change control
- Oversee commissioning, training and structured handover
- Support landfill cell planning, construction and capping activities, ensuring full regulatory compliance and engineering integrity
What we are looking for
- Proven experience delivering complex capital projects (£multi-million value)
- Strong contractor management and commercial negotiation skills
- Working knowledge of CDM Regulations and environmental permitting
- Experience in industrial, waste, infrastructure, utilities or heavy engineering environments
- Confident stakeholder communicator with structured reporting capability
- Degree-qualified in Engineering (or equivalent experience)
