Deanston Cooper is currently recruiting for an Environmental Advisor to work for one of Scotland’s best regarded civil engineering contractors who work on a range of projects including wind farms, BESS, infrastructure, roads, earthworks and substations. You will provide practical environmental advice, helping to ensure compliance with environmental legislation, planning conditions, and company procedures while driving continuous improvement in environmental performance on site.
Your duties as Environmental Advisor include:
- Carrying out regular site inspections and audits, identifying risks, and providing practical advice
- Supporting site teams with ecological matters, including pre‑construction inspections
- Ensuring compliance with environmental legislation, permits, licences, and consent conditions
- Preparing Construction Environmental Management Plans and site‑specific controls
- Supporting pollution prevention, ecology, archaeology, and nuisance management on‑site
- Liaising with regulators and stakeholders, including SEPA and NatureScot
- Supporting the investigation of environmental incidents and identifying improvements
- Delivering toolbox talks and providing guidance to improve environmental awareness
- Supporting environmental input into tenders, including risks, constraints, and opportunities
Applications for the role of Environmental Advisor are welcome from candidates with:
- Degree in Environmental Engineering, Environmental Science, Ecology, or similar
- Minimum 3 years' relevant environmental experience
- Experience in an environmental role within construction or civil engineering
- A good understanding of environmental legislation in Scotland and the UK
- Experience carrying out site inspections, audits, and supporting incident investigations
- Strong communication skills and the ability to influence and support site teams
- A proactive approach and the ability to manage your own workload
