We are seeking an experienced Engineering Manager to join a high‑profile infrastructure framework operating across key UK locations, with a focus on York and London. This role offers a hybrid working arrangement, combining site, office, and remote flexibility. This is a senior technical leadership position, acting as the Contracting Engineer Manager (CEM) and playing a pivotal role in the successful delivery of complex engineering works across a major multi-disciplinary programme. You will be responsible for providing technical governance, ensuring compliance with industry standards, and supporting the safe, efficient, and high-quality delivery of engineering solutions across the framework. The role requires strong leadership, stakeholder management, and the ability to oversee engineering assurance across multiple workstreams.

Key Responsibilities

  • Act as CEM across the framework, providing technical leadership and assurance
  • Oversee engineering design compliance and delivery standards
  • Support project teams with technical guidance and problem‑solving
  • Ensure adherence to relevant rail/infrastructure standards and regulations
  • Liaise with internal and external stakeholders to maintain programme alignment
  • Drive continuous improvement across engineering processes

About You

  • Proven experience in a senior engineering leadership role within infrastructure or rail
  • Strong understanding of engineering assurance and governance processes
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
  • Ability to lead technical teams across complex, multi‑site environments
  • Chartered Engineer status or equivalent desirable
