Senior Civil Engineer Birmingham - Hybrid Working Competitive Salary + Excellent Benefits

An established multidisciplinary engineering consultancy with two offices across the Midlands is seeking a Senior Civil Engineer to join its growing Birmingham team.

With expertise spanning civil, structural, transport, and infrastructure engineering, the consultancy delivers innovative solutions across residential, commercial, industrial, education, healthcare, and mixed-use developments.

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Civil Engineer looking to take on greater technical responsibility, manage projects from inception to completion, and play a key role in mentoring junior engineers within a collaborative and supportive environment.

The Role

  • Lead the design and delivery of civil engineering and infrastructure projects across a variety of sectors.
  • Produce and review technical drawings, calculations, reports, specifications, and design documentation.
  • Design highways, drainage, external works, earthworks, and utilities in accordance with current standards and best practice.
  • Prepare drainage strategies, Flood Risk Assessments, and sustainable drainage (Su DS) solutions where required.
  • Liaise with clients, architects, planning consultants, contractors, and statutory authorities throughout project delivery.
  • Coordinate multidisciplinary project teams to ensure successful project outcomes.
  • Manage project programmes, budgets, and resource allocation while maintaining high technical standards.
  • Mentor and support graduate and junior engineers, providing technical guidance and design reviews.
  • Undertake site visits and attend client, design, and progress meetings.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant design standards, CDM Regulations, and quality management procedures.

About You

  • A degree in Civil Engineering or a related discipline.
  • Significant experience delivering civil engineering infrastructure projects within a UK consultancy environment.
  • Strong knowledge of highways, drainage design, utilities, and development infrastructure.
  • Experience using industry-standard software such as Civil 3D, Auto CAD, Causeway Flow/Info Drainage, and Micro Drainage (or equivalent).
  • A good understanding of Section 38, Section 278, Section 104, and sustainable drainage design.
  • Excellent technical, communication, and project management skills.
  • Experience managing client relationships and coordinating multidisciplinary teams.
  • A proactive approach with the ability to mentor and develop junior engineers.
  • Chartered or Incorporated Engineer status (or working towards professional accreditation) with the ICE or an equivalent professional body.
