Overview

Technical Engineer - Residential Development.

A leading residential developer with a strong pipeline of projects across the South East is looking for an experienced Technical Engineer to join the Design & Technical team and take ownership of infrastructure coordination across multiple developments.

This role offers autonomy over design coordination, approvals, and project delivery with a focus on innovation, sustainability, and engineering excellence.

Responsibilities

  • Technical Coordination: Manage and coordinate engineering information across highways, drainage, utilities, and external works packages.
  • Design Management: Oversee external consultants producing infrastructure designs, ensuring outputs are practical, compliant, and cost‑effective.
  • Approvals & Agreements: Support the progression of Section 38, Section 104 and Section 278 agreements, ensuring timely approvals and delivery alignment.
  • Programme Support: Track technical deliverables and help ensure infrastructure packages are delivered in line with build programmes.
  • Design Review: Review engineering proposals, providing input on buildability, value engineering, and technical compliance.
  • Stakeholder Liaison: Work with local authorities, statutory bodies, utility companies, and internal teams to resolve technical issues and progress schemes.

Requirements

  • HNC/HND (or equivalent) in Civil Engineering or a related discipline
  • Minimum 5 years' experience in a technical or infrastructure‑focused role
  • Background in residential development, consultancy, or civil engineering design
  • Strong understanding of highways, drainage, and utility coordination
  • Confident communicator with strong stakeholder management skills
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines
  • Experience with Autodesk software packages (desirable)
  • Knowledge of PDS or Micro Drainage (beneficial but not essential)
