GEOTECHNICAL ENGINEER / GEOENVIRONMENTAL ENGINEER - MULTIPLE LEVELS

Location: North East – schemes across Northumberland, Tyne & Wear, Durham and Teesside. Salary: Competitive salary/package, tailored to experience. Type: Permanent, full-time.

A well‑established North East earthworks, remediation and civil engineering contractor is looking to strengthen its delivery team with the appointment of 3-4 Geotechnical / Geoenvironmental Engineers at varying levels of experience.

This is an excellent opportunity to join a growing specialist team delivering major earthworks, remediation and enabling works schemes across the region.

The business has secured a number of large, complex and flagship projects, with a strong pipeline of work from Northumberland through to Teesside.

The client is open‑minded on background and level.

They are happy to consider junior candidates looking to move into the sector, experienced geoenvironmental or site investigation professionals, and candidates already working within bulk earthworks, remediation, stabilisation or brownfield development.

The Role

  • Working as part of a specialist earthworks and remediation delivery team.
  • Supporting the delivery of complex enabling works, earthworks, remediation and stabilisation schemes.
  • Involvement in projects across Northumberland, Tyne & Wear, Durham and Teesside.
  • Working on a mix of brownfield, infrastructure, commercial, residential and development‑related schemes.
  • Assisting with the assessment, management and treatment of ground conditions.
  • Supporting site‑based technical delivery, quality control and compliance.
  • Assisting with earthworks strategy, materials management and remediation planning.
  • Reviewing ground investigation, geoenvironmental and site information where relevant.
  • Helping manage onsite materials, re‑use, classification, treatment and disposal.
  • Supporting works involving contaminated land, soil remediation, stabilisation and earthworks value engineering.
  • Liaising with site teams, project managers, engineers, consultants, clients and subcontractors.
  • Ensuring works are delivered safely, correctly and in line with project requirements.
  • Producing or assisting with reports, records, technical documentation and site information.
  • Gaining exposure to major regional schemes with genuine technical complexity.
  • Joining a business with a strong forward workload and continued regional growth.
  • Candidate Requirements
  • Applications are welcome from junior, intermediate and experienced candidates.
  • You may already be working as a Geotechnical Engineer, Geoenvironmental Engineer, Site Engineer, Surveyor, Engineering Technician or similar.
  • Candidates from a site investigation, geoenvironmental consultancy or ground investigation background are encouraged to apply.
  • Candidates from bulk earthworks, remediation, stabilisation, contaminated land or enabling works backgrounds are also of strong interest.
  • A civil engineering, geology, geotechnical, environmental, surveying or construction‑related background would be beneficial.
  • Strong site awareness and an interest in earthworks, ground engineering and remediation.
  • Good communication skills and the ability to work closely with site and technical teams.
  • A practical, hands‑on approach with a willingness to learn and develop.
  • Good attention to detail, particularly around records, compliance and quality.
  • Full UK driving licence preferred due to regional site travel.
