A leading environmental and geotechnical consultancy is seeking a Geo-Environmental Engineer to join their growing Durham office. This is an excellent opportunity for a motivated Geo-Environmental Engineer to work on a wide range of contaminated land, brownfield redevelopment and ground investigation projects across the North East and wider UK.
The Role
- Planning, supervising and managing Phase 1 and Phase 2 site investigations
- Logging soils and rock in accordance with current standards
- Soil, groundwater and ground gas sampling and monitoring
- Scheduling laboratory testing and interpreting analytical data
- Preparing factual and interpretative geo-environmental reports
- Completing Preliminary Risk Assessments (Phase 1 Desk Studies)
- Undertaking Generic and Detailed Quantitative Risk Assessments
- Supporting remediation strategy design and validation works
- Liaising with clients, contractors and regulatory authorities
- Ensuring compliance with health, safety and environmental regulations
Requirements
- Degree in Geology, Environmental Science, Environmental Geoscience, Engineering Geology or a related discipline
- Experience within a geo-environmental, contaminated land or ground investigation role
- Understanding of contaminated land legislation and risk assessment methodologies
- Experience supervising site investigations and contractors
- Strong report writing and communication skills
- Full UK driving licence
- Eligibility to work in the UK
