Our client has a requirement for a Civil/Structural CAD BIM Technician, who will be required to work on a contract basis in Manchester, with a combination of office and remote working.
Role Purpose
Working within the Water team, the successful candidate will be responsible for producing and developing civil and structural CAD design deliverables, including 3D models, technical drawings, and sketches across a range of water and wastewater projects.
The role will support projects from concept through to detailed design, working closely with multidisciplinary engineering teams.
- Job Role Responsibilities
- Produce civil and structural design deliverables in both 2D and 3D.
- Prepare design solutions for all project stages from concept to detailed design.
- Develop BIM models using Revit and extract associated 2D drawings.
- Produce drawings using Auto CAD and Autodesk Civil 3D where required.
- Work within a Common Data Environment (CDE).
- Ensure draughting and modelling activities are completed to programme and budget.
- Maintain compliance with relevant industry standards, codes, and procedures.
- Coordinate effectively with engineers and other technical disciplines.
- Liaise with project teams, clients, vendors, and key stakeholders.
- Support the delivery of both temporary and permanent works designs.
- Contribute to the continuous improvement of design and BIM processes.
Experience / Skills / Knowledge / Qualifications
- Qualified to City & Guilds, HNC, HND, or equivalent in a relevant engineering discipline.
- Proven experience as a Civil/Structural CAD Technician within the water, utilities, infrastructure, or engineering sectors.
- Proficient in Revit, Auto CAD, and BIM modelling.
- Experience working with Common Data Environments.
- Strong understanding of civil and structural detailing.

- Foundations
- Drainage systems
- Below-ground infrastructure
- Cable ducting systems
- Steelwork structures
- Concrete structures
- Experience of reinforced concrete detailing would be advantageous.
- Knowledge of Autodesk Civil 3D is desirable.
- Experience with clash detection, construction sequencing, or 4D modelling software would be beneficial.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities.
