Our client, a well-established and reputable civils contractor, is looking for a highly experienced, site-based Contracts Manager to take full control of groundworks and civil engineering projects. This is a hands-on delivery role, not office-based, focused on ensuring projects are properly planned, resourced, and delivered on time and profitably.
Key Responsibilities
- Site Leadership: Be present on site, manage Site Managers, and ensure labour and teams are performing daily.
- Programme Control: Own and manage project programmes, including 6-week lookaheads and milestone delivery.
- Resource Management: Control labour, plant, and materials to avoid delays and inefficiencies.
- Commercial Oversight: Work closely with QS, manage variations, issue contract notices (NEC/JCT), and protect margins.
- Reporting: Provide weekly updates on progress, costs, risks, and performance.
- HSQE Compliance: Ensure safety, quality, and systems are followed on site.
Additional Duties
- Chair meetings and liaise with clients and directors.
- Support pre-construction and estimating.
- Recruit, mentor, and develop site teams.
Requirements
- 15+ years in groundworks/civil engineering.
- Strong NEC/JCT knowledge.
- Proven delivery of multiple projects end-to-end.
- Strong organisational and programme management skills.
