An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Geotechnical Engineer to join a well-established and highly regarded ground investigation consultancy in Leeds. Responsibilities
- Planning, designing, and managing geotechnical and ground investigation projects from inception to completion.
- Conducting Phase 1 Desk Studies and preparing detailed interpretative reports.
- Performing geotechnical risk assessments and providing bespoke solutions to clients for complex ground conditions.
- Ensuring project milestones are achieved while meeting time and budgetary constraints.
- Liaising with clients, contractors, and other stakeholders to ensure smooth project delivery.
- Providing mentorship and guidance to junior engineers, while also learning from the senior engineering team to accelerate your development.
Qualifications
- A degree in Civil Engineering, Geology, or a related discipline (a postgraduate qualification in Geotechnics or Engineering Geology is advantageous).
- Demonstrable experience in ground investigation and geotechnical consultancy work.
- A strong understanding of UK ground conditions, standards (e.g., BS5930, EC7), and design codes.
- A full UK driving licence, with the flexibility to travel as required.
- Reside within a commutable distance of Leeds, or be willing to relocate.
Day-to-Day
- Producing detailed specifications for rail embankment stabilization and undertaking geotechnical surveys of new and existing rail networks.
- Reviewing and interpreting borehole logs, CPT data, laboratory test results, and other geotechnical information for design recommendations.
- Producing technical reports for clients within the rail, infrastructure, and residential sectors.
- Conducting site visits to monitor project progress and manage contractors during ground investigations.
- Collaborating with geotechnical and environmental teams on larger multi-disciplinary projects.
