BAM Nuttall are looking to recruit an experienced and motivated Senior Planning Engineer to join our ASTI onshore team. As part of this team, you will play a key part in delivering large civil engineering projects that will provide critical infrastructure to enable future, renewable developments across Scotland. The projects are located near Inverness-shire and along the Moray coast. You will be required to work out of our regional offices initially which are located in Inverness and Kilsyth before visiting site during project delivery. The projects are within the energy infrastructure sector, building new substations and HVDC converter stations to support Scotland's transition to net Zero. Whilst BAM support flexible working options we are seeking individuals who are able to attend site/office the majority of each week.

Your team This is a site-based role located in Inverness-shire.

Making Possible

As a Senior Planning Engineer, you will report to the Framework Planning Lead and be responsible for the following:

  • Developing and maintaining detailed programmes in P6 from first principles including resource loading.
  • Integration and management of sub-contractor and supplier programmes with our own.
  • Assimilate and interpret information from tender and project documentation.
  • Understand civil construction techniques and developing them into a working programme.
  • Coordinate with estimators and commercial teams on all programme aspects.
  • Compile concise narratives, phasing, reports and supporting documents for input into quality submissions for tenders and projects.
  • Take ownership of the programme to drive project delivery.
  • Utilise a number of planning techniques and tools to communicate the programme effectively.
  • Contribute, support and communicate programme information, risk and commercial issues to operational teams in a variety of formats.
  • Chair collaborative planning workshops with clients, operational teams and subcontractors (depending on Project requirements).
  • Update and monitor project progress, compile reports against project and contract requirements.
  • Introduce and analyse change in programmes and support the commercial teams.
  • Evaluate supply chain and subcontract programmes.
  • Comply with business processes and systems.
  • Maintain awareness of latest construction techniques.

What do you bring to the role?

  • Experience of delivering programme under the NEC form of contract is preferable.
  • Must have at least 5 years planning experience and will require the ability to communicate and manage own workload and support Planning Engineers within a portfolio of projects.
  • A qualification in Civil Engineering/Construction to HND level or equivalent is preferred but not essential.
  • Competent in the use of various planning software, P6 is a must.
  • A demonstrable ability to develop, own and drive programmes.
  • The ability to communicate effectively with all parties.
  • Comfortable in presenting and client facing situations.
  • Can demonstrate experience of working closely with site construction teams and understanding of each "customer's" programme requirements.
  • A clear ability for logical thinking and working in an ordered fashion.
  • The ability to work to often challenging timescales.
  • Experience in producing summary construction or project control information in excel and Power BI would be an advantage.
  • Tender experience would be an advantage.
  • Strong commercial and contractual acumen with a track record of change management within NEC contracts.
