Location: Multiple UK locations including Solihull, Grangemouth (Scotland), Nottingham (Annesley), Warrington, Bristol, and Normanton. Other locations may be considered.
We're supporting our client, a Tier 1 civil engineering and infrastructure specialist, delivering major projects across highways, utilities, and large-scale civils, supported by a multi-billion-pound order book, in their search for a Civil Senior Design Engineer to join a growing Engineering Design team within the water and wastewater sector.
Key Responsibilities- Deliver high-quality civil design solutions across water and wastewater projects
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure coordinated design outputs
- Produce and review calculations, technical reports, and design documentation
- Support procurement processes with technical input
- Contribute to engineering governance and continuous improvement initiatives
- Provide mentorship and guidance to junior and early-career engineers
- Engage with clients and stakeholders to develop effective engineering solutions
- Attend design, progress, and site meetings as required
- Ensure compliance with relevant standards, regulations, and H&S requirements
- Degree-qualified in Engineering (or equivalent)
- Proven experience within the municipal water and wastewater sector
- Strong understanding of civil design for non-infrastructure assets, including:
- Gravity and pressurised systems (buried and above ground)
- Treatment works components such as tanks, chambers, and inlet/outlet systems
- Chartered status (or working towards) with a recognised engineering institution
- Knowledge of hydraulics and hydraulic calculations
- Familiarity with structural design of water-retaining structures (advantageous)
- Experience working with NEC contracts
- Ability to coordinate with suppliers, subcontractors, and construction teams
- Experience supervising or mentoring junior engineers
