Are you a strong Senior Engineer, Project Engineer or Sub Agent with a proven track record in delivering civil engineering projects, and now ready to step into a role where you shape projects before they hit site? This is a rare opportunity to join a well established civil engineering contractor in a pre-construction-focused role, ideal for someone who understands delivery, buildability and sequencing, and wants to apply that knowledge earlier in the project lifecycle. If you enjoy solving problems, improving methodologies, influencing tender strategy, and helping win work, this move will suit you perfectly.

The Role:

  • You’ll join a growing pre-construction and work-winning team, supporting tender planning, methodology development, and early project strategy across a diverse portfolio of civil engineering schemes.
  • You will use your site experience to:
    • Develop buildable methodologies and construction sequencing for tenders and early-stage schemes
    • Provide practical input into tender programmes, logistics, temporary works approaches and delivery strategy
    • Review drawings, constraints and risks to identify smarter, safer and more efficient ways of delivering the works
    • Work closely with estimators, planners, bid managers and design teams to shape winning submissions
    • Attend site visits, client meetings and briefings to understand project requirements and constraints
    • Support early contractor involvement (ECI) and pre-construction planning on secured frameworks
    • Bring a delivery mindset to the front end of the business, ensuring tenders reflect real-world site conditions

This is a hands‑on, collaborative role where your operational background becomes a major asset.

About You:

  • Experience as a Senior Engineer, Project Engineer or Sub Agent within civil engineering
  • Strong understanding of buildability, temporary works, sequencing and site logistics
  • A proactive, solutions‑driven mindset with the confidence to challenge and improve methodologies
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to work with multidisciplinary teams
  • A desire to move into pre‑construction, planning, work‑winning or early project development
  • A full UK driving licence and willingness to travel for site visits when required

Whether you’ve delivered highways, structures, earthworks, utilities, rail, water or general civils, your delivery experience is what matters most.

What’s on Offer:

  • A genuine career pathway into pre‑construction, tender planning or work winning
  • Exposure to major bids, frameworks and strategic early‑stage projects
  • Support and training to develop your planning, methodology and pre‑construction skills
  • A collaborative team that values practical site experience
  • Competitive salary, car/allowance, pension and benefits package
  • The chance to influence how projects are built – long before boots hit the ground

Who This Role Suits:

This is ideal for someone who enjoys the technical and strategic side of engineering, wants to step away from day‑to‑day site delivery, and is excited by the idea of shaping projects from the outset. If you’re ready to take your delivery experience into a more strategic, front‑end role, we’d love to speak with you.
