Our client Scottish Power Renewables are seeking a Foundations Design Engineer for an immediate start for an urgent contract role initially until 31.1.27.
Main Purpose of the Job
The Foundations Design Engineer is a key role within the EA1N Foundations Package, sitting within the Foundations Package. The Foundations Design Engineer will be responsible for working with the design team to develop the requirements for Structural Health Monitoring within the TP for the EA1N wind farm, engaging with O&M and across the wider business to integrate best practice. The Project Engineer will collate the ITT technical data pack, establish evaluation criteria for the service, and collate a unified recommendation in relation to the Structural Health Monitoring contract. Working across our interfacing packages, the Foundations Design Engineer will be responsible for ensuring the technical requirements for all Transition Piece ancillary equipment (free‑issue equipment) are understood, fully integrated, and fulfil the design requirements for the systems. Naturally, Health & Safety must be paramount.
Throughout the process, the role is required to be on hand to provide expert, high‑level advice, on everything from risk and interfacing requirements through to the latest technical developments. With the help of the team, you'll get everything delivered on time as planned. To succeed, you'll need to turn design requirements into reality, defining and implementing robust and cost‑effective solutions, overseeing effective delivery planning, expediting, and preservation solutions are developed in readiness for fabrication execution. The individual will be working as part of a global business with activities in many countries across Europe and the rest of the world. The position may require frequent travel to various locations in the UK and overseas and the individual should be capable of managing teams working at different project locations.
Key Tasks
- Hold the technical expertise, and guide successful delivery of specific design elements, liaising with wider Foundations Department technical experts.
- Technical review of design deliverables, scopes of work and specifications, spanning across contracts, including design aspects of Foundation Supply contracts.
- Support Package delivery and contract management of design elements.
- Manage technical interfaces in areas of respectively responsibility.
- Manage all relevant interfaces related to the equipment installed within the foundations.
- Resolution of technical queries with Foundation Designer / Suppliers / other design consultants.
- Provide support to the Supply Manager(s) to support integration of design aspects for Project‑delivered equipment, including safety critical equipment (e.g. Navaids, SHMS), manage supply, storage & preservation, and integration, including inspection, FATs, assurance & commissioning activities.
- Oversee the supply and delivery of equipment delivered by Supplier(s) (e.g. Davit Cranes, ICCP systems, TP covers), to ensure interface requirements are fulfilled, supply, storage and preservation, and integration are suitably managed, including onshore certification and commissioning.
- Provide support to the Construction team to deliver readiness for the associated offshore commissioning activities (i.e. Davit Cranes, ICCP, etc.).
Key Criteria - Essential
- Degree and professional qualification in Civil/Structural Engineering.
- Hands‑on experience within a design and/or delivery environment.
- Experience of the design of monopile foundations.
- Excellent knowledge of industry codes and standards and offshore regulations.
- Experience in working with multi‑discipline teams, including contractors.
- Knowledge of health and safety and environmental legislation associated with construction, marine and offshore projects.
Scope Management
- Balance technical detail with commercial needs and provide recommendations, taking into account all relevant risks, advice on the impact of technical/specialist risks and issues and the viability of solutions recommended.
- Sound planning and analysis skills with the ability to look forward and see / anticipate problems and thereafter plan and implement mitigating solutions to negate the effect of such problems.
People Management
- Ability to drive decision making under pressure to tight deadlines and budget constraints.
- Excellent communicator, e.g. report writing, presentations, with the ability to summarise key parameters and drivers impacting the project and business.
