We are thrilled to be recruiting for a Highway Engineering Team Lead to join our client in Fareham. Our client is a fast growing, award winning structural engineering and transport planning consultancy. As Highway Engineering Team Lead, you will support the management of a growing highways engineering team and oversee the delivery of fast-paced, complex schemes for a diverse client base.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Lead a highways engineering team delivering S278, S38 and S184 schemes, as well as providing pre-planning advice
- Manage day-to-day team resources to ensure efficient project delivery
- Monitor and achieve monthly invoicing targets
- Prepare fee proposals and manage project budgets effectively
- Identify and secure additional fees for out-of-scope work
- Undertake and oversee highways design work
- Provide engineering input to support the transport planning team
- Contribute to board reports and regular team updates
- Drive continuous improvement in processes and team efficiency
- Ensure high-quality drawing outputs and technical standards
- Line manage, mentor and support the development of team members
- Contribute to business development activities and attend client meetings
About You / Experience required:
- Proven experience in business development
- Degree or HND in Civil Engineering
- Membership of Institution of Civil Engineers (ICE), Chartered Institution of Highways and Transportation (CIHT), or a similar professional body
- Incorporated Engineer (IEng) or Chartered Engineer (CEng) status preferred
- Significant experience in a similar consultancy environment
- Demonstrated experience leading teams and managing projects
- Strong commercial awareness with excellent client-facing skills
