The Company

Our client is a well-established engineering business delivering ground investigation and geotechnical solutions across a range of infrastructure and construction projects. With a strong reputation for technical quality and project delivery, they are continuing to grow and are looking to strengthen their team with a technically capable individual.

The Role

This position offers a balanced role between engineering geology and geotechnical engineering, with a clear emphasis on interpretation and design input rather than purely site-based work. You will be responsible for reviewing ground investigation data, developing an understanding of site conditions, and using this information to inform and guide geotechnical design decisions. The role is predominantly office-based, with occasional site involvement as required. This would suit someone looking to move away from heavily site-based work into a more analytical, design-influencing position.

Key Responsibilities

  • Interpret ground investigation data including soil and rock logs, lab results, and site reports
  • Develop ground models and provide geotechnical insight to support design decisions
  • Contribute to the production of interpretive reports
  • Liaise with internal teams and external stakeholders on technical matters
  • Provide input into foundation solutions and ground-related design considerations
  • Attend site visits where required to support project understanding

Candidate Requirements

  • Background in Geology, Engineering Geology, or Geotechnical Engineering
  • Experience within ground investigation, site investigation, or geotechnical consultancy
  • Ability to interpret ground data and apply engineering judgement
  • Some exposure to geotechnical design or willingness to develop in this area
  • Strong communication skills and a collaborative approach

Why Apply?

  • Opportunity to transition into a more office-based, technical role
  • Exposure to design-led decision making
  • Supportive team environment with opportunities for progression
  • Varied project work across multiple sectors

This is an excellent opportunity for someone looking to take the next step from site-based ground investigation into a more technically focused geotechnical role. To apply, please submit your CV or contact the Pertemps Engineering Division for more information.
