We're looking for a Design Engineer to join our River Infrastructure team based in Bristol.

Location: Bristol - some agile working

Hours: 37.5 hours per week - some flexibility on hours available if desired, just let us know when you speak to us.

Salary: Starting from £36,000 per annum

As a Design Engineer, you'll join Kier Design's growing River Infrastructure team, delivering meaningful civil and river engineering projects for clients including the Environment Agency, Severn Trent, and the Mining Remediation Authority. This role offers you the opportunity to contribute to vital infrastructure schemes whilst developing your technical expertise within a supportive consultancy environment.

What will you be responsible for?

As a Design Engineer, you'll be working within the River Infrastructure team, supporting them in delivering compliant, safe, and buildable design solutions for civil and river engineering projects. Your day-to-day will include:

  • Delivering civil and river infrastructure design from feasibility through to detailed design
  • Reviewing and agreeing client briefs, offering alternative solutions where appropriate
  • Supporting coordination of design activities within multidisciplinary project teams
  • Ensuring compliance with CDM Regulations, Kier SHEMS, and QMS requirements
  • Contributing to value engineering, fee proposals, and programme delivery

This role of Design Engineer is great for you if:

  • You have a degree (or equivalent) in Civil Engineering or a related discipline
  • You bring post-graduate experience in hydraulic structures, river engineering, or similar infrastructure
  • You're working towards Chartered or Incorporated status (e.g. CEng MICE)
  • You enjoy collaborating within multidisciplinary teams and can apply sound engineering judgement to manage technical risk
  • You hold a Full driving licence
