Freelance Section Engineer – Bridgwater. £390 per day PAYE (including holiday pay).
Long-term contract until 2029.

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Section Engineer to join a major civil engineering project near Bridgwater, delivering a significant reinforced concrete package on a nationally important infrastructure scheme.
With work secured through to 2029, this long-term contract offers stability, technical challenge and the opportunity to be part of a flagship project.
The Role
As Section Engineer, you'll take ownership of a section of works, ensuring safe, efficient and high-quality delivery while supporting Site Engineers and coordinating day-to-day site activities.
Current works include
- Large in-situ reinforced concrete structures
- Retaining walls, reinforced bases and heavy foundations
- Formwork, falsework and reinforcement
- Deep drainage and associated infrastructure
- Earthworks and temporary works
Responsibilities
- Manage site engineering activities within your section
- Support and mentor Site Engineers
- Ensure QA procedures and ITPs are followed
- Coordinate subcontractors and specialist RC teams
- Maintain high health and safety standards
- Attend planning and progress meetings
- Keep accurate site records and engineering documentation
- All engineering equipment and site tools are provided
About You
We're looking for an experienced Section Engineer, or an ambitious Site Engineer ready to step up, with experience delivering reinforced concrete and heavy civils projects such as infrastructure, nuclear, water, bridges or major structural works.
You'll have
- Degree or equivalent in Civil Engineering
- Strong reinforced concrete and heavy civils experience
- Excellent communication and organisational skills
- Full UK driving licence
- Right to work in the UK
- Be based within an hour of Bridgwater
