We're looking for a Senior Structures Engineer to join our Design team based in Birmingham. Location: Birmingham - remote working available, with occasional travel to the office required. Hours: 37.5 hours per week - some flexibility on hours available if desired, just let us know when you speak to us. Salary: Starting from £45,000 per annum. Sector: Design Highways.
Join Kier Design's Structures Team and contribute to meaningful projects for clients including National Highways, TfL, SWTRA and Local Highway Authorities. You'll play a key role in delivering high‑quality structural engineering solutions across all project stages, from feasibility through to construction, ensuring every output meets client expectations and programme requirements.

What will you be responsible for?
As a Senior Structures Engineer, you'll be working within the Structures team, supporting them in delivering highway structures design, inspection and assessment across a diverse project portfolio. Your day to day will include:
- Leading delivery of highway structures design, inspection and assessment from feasibility through to construction.
- Acting as Lead Designer, coordinating and managing technical outputs of project teams.
- Ensuring designs comply with standards, client briefs and quality management systems.
- Applying value engineering and innovation to improve safety, buildability and efficiency.
- Supporting and developing engineers, technicians and graduates within the team.

- You hold a degree or equivalent in a relevant engineering discipline.
- You're Chartered or Incorporated (MICE / MIStructE or equivalent), or working towards professional registration.
- You have experience delivering highway structures design to UK standards, including Eurocodes.
- You're comfortable managing technical delivery with minimal supervision and can communicate effectively with clients and stakeholders.
- You hold a Full driving licence.
