Due to continued expansion, an abundant pipeline of works, and the recent award of a number of long-term major contracts, our client is now looking to appoint an Assistant Geotechnical Engineer or Assistant Geo-Environmental Engineer who will enjoy a challenging, demanding and varied role, and a fantastic opportunity working with our clients vastly experienced team.
The Role
- Gather geotechnical and geo-environmental data from a wide range of work environments
- Undertake geotechnical analytical work, to include planning, execution and pricing of geo-environmental and geotechnical site investigations
- Managing geotechnical project data to drive contract costs and deliverables.
- Assist with the assessment and analysis of ground conditions and investigations
- Involvement in testing programmes for soil and rock samples
- Prepare and assist with reviewing, analysing and interpreting geotechnical data
- Assist with pricing, fee proposals, report writing and technical notes
- Attend meetings with clients and external parties, both on site and in an office environment
- Assist with soil and groundwater risk assessments, liaising with clients to propose solutions
- Working collaboratively with engineers and others to deliver cost schedules and reports
- Reflect and promote the companys values through your work and conduct
The Person
- A minimum 2:2 BSc (Hons) in Geology, Civil Engineering or related subject
- 1-2 years previous practical ground investigation or relevant experience, post-graduation
- Knowledge of ground investigation techniques and BS5930
- Experience with industry related software packages such as Holebase / Gint / Pebble Geo
- IT competent in Microsoft packages, and the ability to work independently or in a team
- Ability to work effectively to deadlines and under pressure
- Good attention to detail and accuracy of work, effective planning and organisation skills
- A structured approach to problem solving, with excellent written and verbal communication
- Awareness of the relevant industry legal and safety regulations
- Eligible to work and live in the UK unassisted indefinitely, with the flexibility to travel
- A full driving licence, that is valid in the UK, and a valid CSCS card
- Attention to detail, with experience in compiling critical data from multiple sources
