My client, a market leader in their field, has a new opportunity for a Senior Structural Design Engineer to join their team on a permanent basis. They deliver a wide portfolio of projects to a variety of clients.

Role Purpose

To design, analyse, and deliver safe, efficient, and compliant structural engineering solutions that support project objectives, meet client requirements, and adhere to relevant industry standards and regulations. The Structural Engineer is responsible for ensuring the structural integrity, buildability, and cost-effectiveness of projects while collaborating with multidisciplinary teams to achieve high-quality outcomes within agreed timelines and budgets.

Role Responsibilities

  • Work closely with clients, colleagues and other professionals, using construction plans, drawings and specifications;
  • Develop design ideas using current industry software;
  • Apply loadings to and calculate stresses and load paths through different parts of a structure;
  • Ensure that projects meet legal guidelines, environmental directives, and health and safety requirements;
  • Prepare bids for tenders;
  • Maintain quality service by following company standards;
  • Maintain professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks; participating in professional societies;
  • Contribute to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed;
  • Provide progress reports to clients and senior managers;

Skills, Experience and Qualifications

  • Robust knowledge of structural mechanics and engineering principles;
  • Excellent design calculation capabilities and experience of using sector-related software packages such as Tekla Structural Designer (Fastrak Building Designer), Fastrak Portal Frame, Masterframe / STAAD PRO, Masterseries Connections etc.;
  • Extensive experience in working within a structural design role, preferably also with experience in connection design.

Salary and Benefits

Salary will be dependent on experience, and my client offers a competitive benefits package including company pension, sick pay scheme, health plan, cycle to work scheme, share save scheme and the option to purchase additional holidays.
