Join a long established contractor in their new design office. Working alongside a team of structural engineers and technicians, you will be involved in the design, co‑ordination and delivery of complex, major projects. These are typically in the high‑rise, nuclear, data centre, rail, aviation and nuclear sectors. The opportunity would suit a structural design engineer, with a consulting background, who wants to gain contracting experience. You will gain invaluable new expertise in co‑ordination, buildability, sequencing and management. Support is provided for those working towards chartership with the ICE, IStructE and Engineers Ireland.

Company Overview: A profitable and established contractor with a reputation for delivering complex heavy civil engineering and building projects. They work on major schemes across the nuclear, rail, airport, highways, commercial and residential high rise sectors. More than seven hundred people are employed across the business and projects are delivered throughout the country, with a large share of activity in Central and Greater London. The demanding technical nature of their work means they maintain a team of structural engineers and technicians who focus on the early stages of project design and the improvement and buildability of structural solutions.

Your Role: The design of superstructures, with a particular focus on steelwork and its interface with concrete. This includes developing connection details, producing calculation packs and fabrication sketches, co‑ordination, and reviewing client specifications to clarify design intent. You will work closely with project managers to ensure your designs are practical, and respond to design queries from clients and external designers.

Profile Required: At least two years structural design experience, gained in a consulting engineering environment. A degree in civil or structural engineering at 2:1 or above. Your experience should include some exposure to designing steel structures, and you should be familiar with industry standard design and analysis software.
