An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Principal Highways Engineer to join one of London's leading independent transport consultancies, renowned for delivering innovative and sustainable engineering solutions. The Role
As a Principal Highways Engineer, you'll take a strategic and technical leadership role, overseeing the design and delivery of urban highway and public realm schemes, including S278 works and other complex transport infrastructure projects. You'll lead multidisciplinary teams, mentor senior and junior engineers, manage client relationships, and ensure projects are delivered to the highest technical and quality standards.
Essential Skills & Experience
- Degree in Civil Engineering or a related discipline.
- Extensive experience in highways and transport infrastructure design within a consultancy environment.
- Chartered or working towards Chartered status (ICE, CIHT or similar).
- Strong proficiency in AutoCAD (Civil 3D experience desirable).
- Expertise in S278 schemes, urban streetscape, and public realm projects.
- Strong understanding of surface and sub-surface drainage principles.
- Proven ability to lead, review, and approve complex design work to relevant standards and codes.
- Experience managing client relationships, project delivery, and mentoring staff.
- Excellent communication, leadership, and strategic planning skills.
