Our client, a leading consultancy in the highways sector, is currently seeking a Highway Engineer / Transport Planner to join their team. This permanent position supports the Development Management Implementation (DMI) team of a Professional Services Contract with Hertfordshire County Council. The role ensures the delivery of highways and transport services that support sustainable development across the region.

Key Responsibilities

  • Supporting highway design or transport planning projects within public or private sector developments
  • Contributing to the preparation of technical drawings and documentation
  • Providing input on development proposals and supporting technical reviews
  • Conducting Transport Assessments and preparing highways documentation for planning applications
  • Engaging with colleagues, stakeholders, and developers to ensure effective communication and collaboration
  • Developing technical capability through hands-on project work and mentorship

Job Requirements

  • Experience in highway design or transport planning
  • Understanding of development-led infrastructure and planning requirements
  • Proficiency with Autodesk Civil 3D and/or AutoCAD
  • Exposure to Transport Assessments and highways documentation
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills
  • Enthusiastic, proactive, and committed to continuous professional development
  • Relevant qualification (HNC, HND, Degree or Masters) in Civil Engineering, Transport Planning, or related discipline
  • Membership, or working towards membership, of a professional body such as ICE or CIHT is desirable
