YOUR ROLE

Our operation based in Spennymoor have an exciting opportunity for a meticulous and performance driven Traffic Planner where you will be responsible for planning and managing daily inbound deliveries, ensuring efficient resource allocation and cost-effective transport solutions that meet customer needs.

This is a Monday to Friday role.

WHAT ARE YOU GOING TO DO?

Reporting into the Contract Manager, you will:

  • Plan efficient, achievable routes to maximise vehicle utilisation, allocate resources effectively, and meet contractual service levels.
  • Allocate core and subcontractor resources as needed to fulfil all inbound and outbound transport demands.
  • Ensure all operational and compliance documentation meets company standards and legal requirements.
  • Conduct driver pre-briefs and debriefs, recording key info in systems and control documents.
  • Support the wider traffic team and maintain effective communication with client to ensure smooth operations.
  • Identify and pursue backload and revenue opportunities to boost fleet efficiency and reduce costs.

WHAT ARE WE LOOKING FOR?

To be successful in your application you will already be operating within a transport environment acting in a transport planning role. You will have comprehensive knowledge and awareness of tachograph legislation and working time directive to enable you to plan efficiently and effectively. Experience of using Paragon is desirable but training will be provided. You will be comfortable engaging with individuals at all levels both inside and outside of the organisation via telephone and email, be a natural communicator, problem solver and team player, who is able to manage conflicting priorities to meet operational deadlines.

You will have previous experience of using Transport Management Systems such as Trans-NET, or equivalent, skilled in analysing and interpreting data with a focus on cost control and save. You will also be experienced in relevant MS Packages such as Word and Excel, experienced in managing, updating, and analysing spreadsheets.
