Your Role
We have an exciting opportunity for an Ocean Imports Coordinator to join the team! This amazing role will see you working within our busy ocean operation based in Ashby de la Zouch, where you will focus on end‑to‑end imports operational activity for our customers. This hybrid role will see you working Monday to Friday, either from 8:00‑4:30 pm, 8:30‑5:00 pm or 7:30‑4:00 am, depending on preference.
What you will do
- Reporting to the Ocean Import Supervisor, you will play a key role in managing end‑to‑end ocean import shipments, ensuring a smooth and efficient process from booking through to final delivery.
- You will take ownership of both FCL and LCL shipments, coordinating closely with customers, suppliers and overseas colleagues to maintain full visibility and control throughout the shipment lifecycle.
- You will prepare and review import documentation, ensuring accuracy and full compliance with all relevant regulations.
- You will also be responsible for submitting customs instructions in a timely manner, supporting the clearance process and avoiding delays.
- Alongside this, you will monitor shipment progress using internal systems, proactively identifying and resolving any issues to deliver a seamless customer experience.
- Acting as the main point of contact for your allocated customers, you will handle queries, requests, claims and complaints with a solutions‑focused approach, always aiming to deliver excellent service and maintain strong relationships.
- You will also take responsibility for cost control, checking and managing charges to ensure financial accuracy, while arranging onward transport and coordinating final delivery.
- You will contribute to maintaining high operational standards by communicating effectively across teams and may be involved in continuous improvement initiatives or projects that support service excellence within the wider ocean operations function.
What we are looking for
- Our ideal candidate will bring solid experience in ocean imports, with a strong understanding of end‑to‑end shipment processes.
- You will be comfortable working in a fast‑paced ocean or multimodal environment and confident managing multiple priorities.
- You will be a strong communicator, capable of building effective relationships both internally and externally, and delivering a high standard of customer service.
- You will be a proactive problem solver with a logical approach, able to prioritise your workload while maintaining a high level of accuracy and efficiency.
- Being a collaborative team player is essential, alongside the ability to work independently when required.
- Experience with Cargowise would be advantageous, although this is not essential.
