YOUR ROLE
CEVA Logistics has been awarded a major new contract with a high‑profile client, marking an exciting phase of growth for the business expanding on our ecommerce offering. This is a new build implementation offering exciting opportunities across contract logistics. As a result, we are looking for experienced MHE Trainers to join our operation in our new Derby site. This is a key on‑site role responsible for the delivery, assessment and ongoing compliance of all Materials Handling Equipment (MHE) training. You will play a critical role in maintaining a strong safety culture, ensuring audit readiness, and supporting operational performance in a fast‑paced, high‑volume warehouse environment, while enabling upskilling and cross‑skilling across the workforce. We currently have two shifts available; however, flexibility will be required: Sunday to Thursday, 8:30am-5:30pm and Tuesday to Saturday, 8:30am-5:30pm.
WHAT ARE YOU GOING TO DO?
- Reporting into the on‑site Training Manager, you will take key responsibilities for the:
- Delivery of approved MHE training, refresher training and re‑certification in line with site training plans
- Train and assess a range of equipment including Counterbalance FLT, Reach, PPT, LLOP/Order Pickers and site specific specialist equipment
- Conduct theory and practical assessments to verify operator competence
- Issue, track, suspend or withdraw MHE authorisations in line with CEVA and client standards
- Ensure all training complies with PUWER, LOLER and HSE guidance
- Promote a safety first culture and challenge unsafe behaviours appropriately
- Support investigation of MHE related incidents and deliver corrective retraining where required
- Monitor operator performance across the operation and provide coaching where standards fall
- Support onboarding of new starters and cross skilling initiatives
- Provide training evidence and data to support internal and customer audits
- Act as the on‑site Subject Matter Expert for MHE training and compliance
- Work closely with training, operations, HSEQ and client stakeholders to align training with operational demands
- Support the Training Manager with any additional tasks as and when required.
WHAT ARE WE LOOKING FOR?
To be successful in your application you will be an accredited MHE instructor (RTITB, ITSSAR or equivalent), you will have proven experience of delivering MHE training within a warehousing or operational setting with strong working knowledge of MHE training standards and compliance requirements. You will be practiced in health and safety legislation and safe system working with excellent administration skills experienced in maintaining training records and audit evidence. It goes without saying that you will be a natural communicator confident in facilitating sessions and training diverse audiences. You will be a problem solver, influencer and collaborator capable of working at all levels.
- Proven experience of working in an ecommerce environment
- Exposure to safety, training or compliance frameworks
- Experienced in contributing to skills matrices and training KPI reporting
- Comfortable supporting multi‑shift operations and mixed shift patterns.
