YOUR ROLE
CEVA Logistics is seeking a MHE Trainer to deliver, assess and maintain high standards of training for all Materials Handling Equipment (MHE) operators on site at East Midlands Gateway. This role plays a critical part in ensuring safe, compliant and efficient MHE operations, supporting a strong safety culture, audit readiness and operational performance within a fast‑paced e‑commerce warehouse environment.
WHAT ARE YOU GOING TO DO?
As an MHE Trainer, you will design and deliver engaging practical and theoretical training for a range of equipment, including counterbalance and reach trucks, PPT, LLOP, VNA and clamp trucks, ensuring all operators meet required competency standards. You will conduct assessments, issue and manage operator authorisations, and support new starters through MHE familiarisation and onboarding training. You will also lead refresher and re‑certification programmes to ensure ongoing compliance and capability across the workforce. You will ensure all training activities align with UK legislation (including PUWER, LOLER and HSE guidance), site procedures, and Amazon customer requirements. This includes promoting a strong safety‑first culture, investigating incidents or near misses, and delivering corrective training where required. You will monitor operator performance on the warehouse floor, provide coaching and feedback, and identify gaps through data, incidents or customer feedback — contributing to continuous improvement in safety, quality and productivity. The role also involves maintaining accurate training records, competency matrices and audit‑ready documentation, as well as working closely with Operations, Planning and Health & Safety teams to align training delivery with operational demand.
WHAT ARE WE LOOKING FOR?
The ideal candidate will hold an accredited MHE Instructor qualification (such as RTITB, ITSSAR or equivalent) and have proven experience delivering MHE training within a warehouse or distribution environment. You will have a strong understanding of health and safety legislation and safe systems of work, alongside excellent organisational skills and attention to detail when managing training records and compliance requirements. Confident trainer and facilitator, able to engage mixed‑ability groups and coach colleagues effectively on the job. Strong communication skills are essential, along with the ability to challenge unsafe behaviours in a professional and constructive manner. Experience working within a customer‑led or contract logistics environment would be advantageous, as would flexibility to support multiple shifts and operational requirements.
WHAT DO WE HAVE TO OFFER?
With a genuine culture of reward and recognition, we want our employees to grow, develop and be part of our journey. We offer a benefits package that includes competitive annual leave entitlement with a fantastic holiday buy scheme, pension and life assurance.
