Milk Education is working with a large SEND specialist provision in the Hounslow area to recruit an Aspiring Psychologist ‑ Learning Support Assistant with a genuine passion for supporting children and young people with Autism. This role is ideal for someone looking to gain paid, hands‑on experience in a school‑based setting while working towards a career in psychology, mental health, or education. You will work as an Autism Support Worker, focusing on learners with Autism and ADHD, alongside a range of additional learning needs – including pupils who are non‑verbal or have significant communication differences.
Responsibilities:
- Provide consistent 1:1 and small‑group support for pupils aged 5‑19 with complex SEND, including Autism and ADHD.
- Support non‑verbal pupils using alternative and augmentative communication (AAC) strategies.
- Use tools such as Makaton, visual timetables, and communication boards to support understanding and engagement.
- Support the delivery of Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs).
- Encourage emotional regulation, communication, and engagement in learning.
- Communicate clearly and respectfully with teachers, school staff, and external professionals.
- Help create a structured, calm, and inclusive learning environment.
