Join us as a Specialist Underwriter Assistant and advance your career with a global market leader. In this role, you will support the UK Underwriting and Operations Teams, handling the end‑to‑end underwriting and operations process and ensuring high‑quality service to brokers and clients.
Responsibilities
- Support the lifecycle of the portfolio in collaboration with Underwrite Managers.
- Ensure all new business and renewal accounts are processed, tracked, and accurately entered into systems.
- Engage proactively with Underwriting to facilitate smooth hand‑overs for new and renewed accounts.
- Maintain documentation and records, retaining all files centrally.
- Accountable for premium, commission, and tax bookings in processing systems.
- Track implementation progress and resolve queries with the global network.
- Collaborate with the Credit Control team to answer queries, track, and monitor premium using core underwriting systems.
- Manage client and broker requests, routing them to Underwriting as required.
- Lead huddles, audit work, perform quality control, and support query resolution in collaboration with the offshore team.
- Build strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
- Develop expert knowledge of systems and processes, keeping up‑to‑date with new guidelines.
- Act as a reference point for team members on questions or uncertainties.
- Support project work to ensure existing processes meet requirements.
Qualifications
- A‑level standard of education or equivalent business experience.
- General insurance knowledge.
- Knowledge of operations processes underpinning underwriting, including Submission/Quotes, Risk specifics, and basic pricing principles.
- Understanding of reinsurance concepts (FAC RI, Captive, Treaties, etc.).
- Domestic market specifics and customs knowledge.
- Knowledge of premium allocation principles, cross‑border tax calculation & processing, and insurance accounting principles.
- Strong organisational skills, prioritisation, and deadline management.
- Collaboration skills with the ability to build strong relationships with stakeholders.
- Excellent communication and problem‑solving skills.
- Attention to detail.
- IT proficiency, including Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams, and Power BI desirable.
