With offices in the U.S., London and Asia Pacific, Talbot is the managing agent of Syndicates 1183, 2019, 2478 and s2479 at Lloyd’s. Syndicate 1183 underwrites a number of classes of business including war and terrorism, energy, marine, financial lines, cyber, transport, political risk, crisis management, kidnap & ransom, contingency, property and treaty reinsurance.
How you will create an impact
This is a fantastic role for someone with an enterprise/operational risk background to join our Risk team in a role that offers a lot of variety and some interesting challenges. You will gain a breadth of experience and have the opportunity to interact with senior stakeholders across the business.
Some of the key responsibilities include:
- Assist with oversight of risk appetites, tolerances and key risk indicators
- Support the ongoing process of risk assessments, including deep dives
- Support the quarterly reporting cycle, including attendance at quarterly meetings with key stakeholders
- Monitor and record changes in the risk profile of the business, including the effectiveness of the control environment
- Record and monitor risk management actions
- Assist in the recording, monitoring and investigation of risk events / incidents
- Contribute to the annual ORSA process
- Be an active user of the ServiceNow GRC System, facilitating business attestations and providing training to new users
- Assist in the design of and/or run reports in accordance with business needs from ServiceNow
- Assist the Senior Risk Manager and Head of Risk Management to deliver other aspects of the Risk Management plan as required (with the opportunity to be involved in topical / strategic projects)
- Keep up to date with Risk Management best practice and make recommendations for practical application in Talbot as relevant
- Assist in any training exercises carried out by the Risk Management team
What you’ll need to succeed
- Graduate with relevant degree
- Some experience in Risk Management within Financial Services or a Consultancy
- Highly motivated, inquisitive and a self-starter
- Strong attention to detail
- Very strong communication skills
- Good knowledge of Word, Excel and databases
- A desire to proactively engage with the business and build strong working relationships
- Insurance experience advantageous
