Complex Disease Claims Adjuster – Casualty Claims
American International Group, Inc. (AIG) is a leading global insurance organization.
We are seeking a Complex Disease Claims Adjuster to support our Casualty Claims department.
This role is client‑facing and focuses on customer‑centered, cost‑efficient claims handling within a regulatory framework.
Responsibilities
- Handle and investigate all claims within the limit of authority, adhering to company standards and procedures.
- Take proactive steps to effectively interact with claimants, brokers, insureds, external providers and internal stakeholders.
- Provide accurate and timely reserving for claims.
- Contribute to meeting Department Key Performance Targets and achieve own objectives.
- Promote best‑practice compliance for all aspects of claims assessment and handling, and demonstrate principles of Treating Customers Fairly (TCF).
- Support the Claims Manager and the claims team, working closely with underwriters to give feedback on claims issues, wording and market trends.
- Proactively identify and review suspect/fraudulent claims regularly, in line with company internal requirements.
- Collaborate as part of a team, supporting colleagues to enhance overall team effectiveness.
- Promote a ‘can‑do’ attitude, good relationships with internal and external customers, and drive excellent customer service.
Qualifications & Experience
- Proven experience in an insurance or legal environment handling complex disease claims, including asbestos, respiratory diseases, occupational cancers and noise‑induced hearing loss.
- Strong understanding of end‑to‑end claim procedures and processes.
- Proficiency with claims systems (including MOJ) and Microsoft Office (Excel, Word).
- Detailed working knowledge of the legal and regulatory environment governing these claims.
- Ability to make decisive judgments on legal liability, damage assessment, and the need for investigation or rehabilitation.
- Self‑motivated, proactive team member with strong problem‑solving skills.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills.
