How you will create an impact

As part of the Data Office team, the Data Management and Governance Director will be responsible for the design and maintenance of the process to determine and drive implementation of key data management requirements within the organization including:

  • Working with the business and IT management to promote the importance of data governance and data quality.
  • Ownership of the processes to review alignment and support the business and strategic initiatives in adherence to the data management requirements in line with the AIG Data Management Policy and Standards.
  • Working in partnership with IT, Information Security, Privacy and other teams to better integrate data governance requirements with various reviews and approvals needed as part of the Software Development Lifecycle process at AIG.
  • Collaboration with stakeholders to establish responsibility for data and its quality for key business processes and strategic initiatives, appointment of Data Owners and Stewards to support projects across the company.
  • Working with Metadata Management, Data Quality, Data Architecture and other Data Office teams to determine scope and manage their engagement in the projects as part of the effort to ensure alignment to key data management requirements.
  • Partnering with the Data Product and Data Analytics teams (including Gen AI projects) to monitor releases and ensure adequate controls are in place to provide quality data that meets business needs and in compliance with AIG and regulatory requirements.
  • Collaboration with the Business Intelligence team to maintain and improve the report and dashboard data certification process.
  • Contribute to the rollout and continuous improvement of AIG’s data governance framework.

What you’ll need to succeed

Requirements for the Manager, Data Management & Governance role include:

  • Experience in data governance, IT governance, data quality, audit or related area.
  • Technical skills and experience necessary to understand project IT documentation.
  • Experience working with data governance tools, e.g., Collibra, Informatica.
  • Knowledge of data-related regulatory requirements and awareness of emerging trends.
  • Familiarity with the insurance industry, processes, and terminology will be an advantage.
  • Strong organizational, project management and multi-tasking skills.
  • Ability to work closely with peers, business and IT colleagues at various levels of seniority and build strong partnerships with key stakeholders.
  • Proficiency in using MS Office tools (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access, Visio).
  • Excellent communication, presentation and influencing skills.
