How you will create an impact
You will underwrite across multi-line combined P & C business within the UK SME and Mid-market segment. You will be responsible for acquiring, developing and growing Delegated Authority relationships and account management of large portfolios of facility business.
Accountabilities for the role:
- Manage existing Delegated Authority relationships and be accountable for commercial performance.
- Review and assess new opportunities to win/take-on new delegated authority arrangements including leading due diligence, deal tendering and making executive proposals.
- Oversee the onboarding of new delegated authority arrangements in conjunction with AIG Operational and 3rd party governance stakeholders.
- Work with AIG product line management to review and propose a strategy to optimise existing delegated authority arrangements.
- Lead and collaborate with leaders across AIG jurisdictions to build best practice for Delegated Authority / Programme underwriting and management.
- Lead the development of new and existing products and/or product enhancements.
- Work with the portfolio underwriting team to monitor DUA facilities, assessing both performance against budget, underwriting results and loss trends. Set plans for development or remediation accordingly.
- Conduct quarterly business reviews with key delegated authority partners and manage external business relationships to achieve desired performance metrics.
- Act as senior underwriting referral point within the team but also responsible for preparing referrals for upward review including to the Global CUO office.
- Provide training and support to junior underwriters and the service centre team.
- Work with the Head of Underwriting and Technical Manager to embed Underwriting Excellence.
- Comply with key regulatory, conduct and risk management requirements and responsibilities.
What you’ll need to succeed
- Management Experience: Proven experience in the insurance market, specifically with Binding Authorities, Delegated Underwriting Authority (DUA), and Lloyd's/London market knowledge.
- Underwriting Experience: Proven underwriting experience and technical knowledge in Property & Casualty underwriting lines is essential with specialisms in Healthcare, Construction and SME a strong preference.
- Technical Experience: Experience writing and reviewing policy wordings, binder contracts, underwriting guides, rater models, audit reports.
- P & L Experience: experience in budget planning, forecasting and regular reporting on trading and bottom line performance.
- Analytical Skills: Ability to analyze data to support underwriting decisions and identify portfolio trends.
- Interpersonal Skills: Excellent negotiation, relationship-building, and communication skills.
