How you will create an impact
- This role is your opportunity to drive portfolio development and profitable growth within the Casualty Product as an Underwriter by working on creative solutions for multi-line mid-market risks.
- You will be responsible for underwriting a range of new and renewal business, using your proven relationship building skills to contribute to this important growth area of the business whilst driving the client service process.
- You will work closely with brokers to communicate risk appetite and our value proposition and to understand the deal structures, terms and products that best meet clients’ needs.
- You will negotiate pricing, terms & conditions, and deal structure with brokers and clients.
- Regular contact with your brokers will be essential through review of proposals and reviews of claims history and general company information to achieve this.
- It will be important to generate new business opportunities by expanding and building on your broker and client networks, through attending broker events, maintaining, developing and building strong new relationships across the market.
- You will provide excellent service to your brokers through consistent, timely and proactive approaches to underwriting.
- You will collaborate with AIG Distribution, territory managers, and underwriters in other business lines to target desirable accounts and cross-selling opportunities.
- You will meet individual underwriting expectations to help the team achieve budgeted financial objectives through exhibiting sales oriented behaviours, defined by Management as: motivated, tenacious, focused, technically skilled, proactive and accountable.
What you’ll need to succeed
- Proven underwriting experience, with good knowledge of Casualty insurance; other relevant professional experience may substitute for underwriting experience with a track record in renewal and new business.
- Desire to work in an entrepreneurial environment with responsibility for contributing to the development of AIG’s P&C portfolio in the regions.
- A strong network of regional broker contacts and willingness to build direct relationships with large clients.
- Customer and Sales orientated behaviours: motivated, tenacious, focused, technically skilled, proactive, and accountable.
- Strong communication, networking and relationship building skills.
- The ability to understand and analyze financial statements.
- Good organizational and time management skills.
- An interest in mentoring and training if you have not held these duties previously.
