With offices in London, New York and Singapore, Talbot is the managing agent of 4 syndicates at Lloyd’s, underwriting numerous classes of business including war and terrorism, energy, marine, financial lines, cyber, transport, political risk, crisis management, kidnap & ransom, and property reinsurance. How you will create an impact: The Capital Modelling team is responsible for maintaining the Talbot internal model to enable an efficient and timely delivery of the assessment, aggregation and reporting of all quantifiable risks to inform decision making as well as to meet regulatory requirements.

  • Key responsibilities:
  • Internal Model development: Lead with the development of business-related functionality and outputs that will support the business, leading on planned Igloo developments within the team. Developments are conducted in line with the Internal Model Change Policy.
  • Production of the Solvency UK/Lloyd’s regulatory capital reporting requirements for S2478. This includes, but is not limited to, the SCR submissions to Lloyd’s (i.e. LCR forms and all other associated returns), application of the Internal Model Change Policy for model updates and the production of the annual PRA Internal Model Output (“IMO”) submissions to Lloyd’s.
  • Business planning process: Assist with the Internal Model use within the business: for example, supporting Group strategic initiatives.
  • Collaborate with teams across the syndicate to ensure the Internal Model adequately reflects the latest view of the syndicate risk profile and to contribute to the validation of the Internal Model.
  • Support effective Internal Model governance and to produce/ present internal model analysis/documentation to senior management and the Internal Model Governance Committee (“IMGC”).
  • Promote, encourage, and support model use across the business.
  • Conducting ad hoc analysis/investigations as they may arise including assisting across other areas of the team: for example, business planning investigations, stress and scenario testing, ORSA, AFR.
  • Identifying and documenting Internal Model Limitations in line with Internal Model Limitations Statement of Operating Practice.

What you’ll need to succeed:

  • General Insurance experience, ideally in capital modelling in the Lloyd’s market.
  • Enthusiastic and hardworking, must enjoy working with other areas of the business.
  • Excellent Igloo coding/analysis skills and a good working knowledge of Excel, Word and PowerPoint.
  • Enjoys coding/modelling in Igloo and investigating/solving problems.
  • Quantitative background is necessary.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and oral.
