Job Summary

This role is a multi-drop delivery driver role and the person will be responsible for delivering company products to the customer in a safe and timely manner. You’ll be a representative of the company and be one of the first points of contact for our customers, so a high standard of customer care must be maintained at all times.

Key Responsibilities

  • To maintain a safe and competent standard of driving, observing speed limits and other traffic signs and giving due regard to other road users.
  • To have a daily check to ensure that your vehicle is in a roadworthy condition including a check of the lights, brakes, coolant, etc.
  • To report any faults, breakdowns, accidents or delays.
  • To maintain the internal and external condition of the vehicle together with the cleanliness of the vehicle.
  • To ensure sufficient quantities of fuel have been taken for the day's work.
  • To maintain the security of the vehicle and its contents at all times.
  • To check all orders shown on the drop sheets and ensure all orders are loaded on the vehicle.
  • To collect goods returned for credit, mail, delivery bins and their safe return to the branch at times instructed by the branch management.
  • Ensure damages/breakages are dealt with promptly and correctly with due regard to special procedures for HazChems.
  • To always maintain a smart appearance.
  • To help maintain good customer relations.
  • To be involved in other duties including warehouse tasks as defined by the Management.
  • Meet all Health & Safety requirements.

Skills Knowledge and Experience required:

Essential

  • A full driving license must be held relevant to the vehicle being driven.
  • Whilst we do not ask for a clean license, we will assess the risk of employing applicants who have points on their license, and this may affect our decision to shortlist.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Excellent Customer care.
  • Intermediate Numeracy and Literacy.

Desirable

  • Previous experience of multi-drop delivery driving is highly desirable.
  • Route planning experience.
