Manager of ICS Control Management UK Market Legal Entity

This role sits within ICS Governance & Control, part of International Card Services (ICS), and focuses on embedding robust control management in day-to-day operations to meet local regulatory and legal entity obligations. The role involves extensive collaboration across multiple business units, functional areas, and geographies.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain robust relationships, becoming a trusted 1st Line of Defense partner to facilitate cross-functional collaboration and progress towards maturity and enhancement of the control environment and risk governance.
  • Serve as the go-to subject matter expert on risks specific to the local market.
  • Identify, assess, prioritise, and manage risks and issues across operational risk programs to help the business meet local business, regulatory, and Legal Entity obligations.
  • Manage governance and controls forums for ICS, interfacing with enterprise governance processes and committees and share insights across forums.
  • Facilitate activities to comply with enterprise policies and programs pertaining to specific risk types.
  • Compile and review topical risk information, including emerging trends, best practices, and regulatory updates.
  • Support the business for consultation on operational risk programs to embed ORM considerations into processes.
  • Lead sharing of insights, best practices, and themes with central program teams and other Legal Entity governance teams to support operational risk programs and streamline processes.

Minimum Qualifications

  • 3+ years experience in operational risk management (e.g., within Risk and/or Internal Audit) and knowledge of critical risk lifecycle activities.
  • Strong project management, communication, and interpersonal skills with ability to interact with senior BU/tech counterparts.
  • Experience in process governance and in overseeing robust decision-making processes aligned with policies, regulatory frameworks, and operational standards.
  • Proficient analytical and problem-solving skills with ability to analyze data, identify trends, and evaluate risk scenarios.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor\’s Degree in Finance, Business, Risk Management, or related field; advanced degrees or certifications are advantageous.
  • Experience within the financial services industry.
  • Experience in at least one of the following: (1) supporting go-to subject matter experts in sharing expertise within the BU on specialized risks; (2) facilitating activities to comply with enterprise policies and programs pertaining to specific risk types; (3) advising on specialized risk types and integration into broader operational risk policies and programs.

ICS Governance & Control sits within International Card Services (ICS), which comprises issuing functions across 28 international markets excluding the US. ICS issues products to Consumer and Commercial customers and partners with international businesses to manage risk, respond to new regulation, and develop new products.

The objective of the ICS Control Management Legal Entity UK Market Team is to provide specialized operational risk advisory to ensure an effective control environment that supports the Legal Entity. The role involves collaboration with multiple partners across business units, functional areas, and geographies.
