How will you make an impact in this role? International Risk and Controls sits within International Card Services (ICS) which comprises all the issuing functions across all 28 international markets excluding the US - colleagues operate across a variety of geographies and disciplines. ICS issues products to our Consumer and Commercial customers – the organization is an integral part of the global growth strategy for American Express; offering differentiated products and services is critical to our success and promises to drive significant growth and value through the delivery of innovative products, tailored to the needs of our customers.
ICS Governance is looking for a Risk Insight Manager focused on depriving insights that strengthen risk management across ICS. The Manager will:
- Use insights to define and support the Strategic direction of the Governance organization
- Work across Risk Management Programs to identify trends and emerging risks
- Manage details of specific risk and controls governance forums for ICS, interfacing with org-wide governance processes and committees and share insights and lessons learned across forums
- Provide support to develop the operational risk framework to enable effective risk management and decision making in the BU
- Aggregate reporting, approvals/exceptions and support "change-the-function" activities for the BU
- Support sharing insights, better practices, themes, etc. across the enterprise
- Partner with stakeholders across ICS Risk & Control and 2LOD/1LOD teams
Minimum Qualifications
- Significant experience in operational or strategic risk management with understanding of critical operational risk management lifecycle activities
- Strong project management, communication, and interpersonal skills
- Proficient analytical and problem-solving skills, with an ability to analyze data, identify trends, and evaluate risk scenarios effectively
Preferred Qualifications
- University degree in Finance, Business, Risk Mgmt., or equivalent experience
- Experience in at least one of the following:
- Definition of operational risk strategy
- Translating operational risk strategy and appetite into execution guidelines
- Tracking and identifying issues with Key Risk Indicator (KRI) limits and risk appetite to ensure operational risks are managed within agreed thresholds
- Oversee the implementation of the operational risk governance frameworks
- Communicating and ensuring understanding and adherence to operational risk procedures and standards
- Facilitating the operational risk exam management processes
- Experience in financial services industry
