This is a new opportunity for an Electrical Vehicle Infrastructure (EVI) Design Lead to join our Engineering Team. We are seeking a highly skilled Electrical Engineer to contribute to the design, delivery, and ongoing development of cutting-edge electrical systems for the future of sustainable transportation. This position is based in Ameresco’s London offices in the United Kingdom.

Responsibilities:

  • Manage and lead electrical design projects from concept to detailed design, ensuring compliance with relevant standards and regulations.
  • Undertake complex electrical designs and coordinate with other disciplines (Civils, etc.) throughout the full design lifecycle.
  • Supervise and mentor a team of professional and technical staff, including contractors, ensuring high-quality project delivery.
  • Ensure compliance with Health and Safety legislation and standards relevant to electrical works, specifically in the highways sector.
  • Manage project budgets and design approval processes, ensuring efficient use of resources.
  • Provide expert technical guidance and support throughout the design and operational service delivery phases.
  • Develop, review, and approve electrical designs and project specifications.
  • Perform quality checks on site works during the construction phase to ensure adherence to design specifications.
  • Conduct testing and inspections in line with BS 7671 – 18th Edition and the IET Wiring Regulations.
  • Stay up-to-date with industry trends, regulations, and innovations related to electrical engineering and electric vehicle infrastructure.
  • Engage in continuous personal development and learning, embracing new technologies and design software.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Educational Qualifications: Electrical Engineering Degree / Master’s level or equivalent in a relevant discipline, or demonstrable relevant experience.
  • Professional Qualifications: Registered or have the ability to register with the Highways Electrical Registration scheme (HERs) National Highways Sectors Scheme 8.
  • Technical Expertise: Full working knowledge of the Fifth Edition of the IET Code of Practice for Electric Vehicle Charging Equipment Installation, BS 7671 - 18th Edition, The IET Wiring Regulations, and Electric Vehicles Accessible Charging Specification - PAS 1899.
  • Proven experience in design and operational service delivery roles within EVI or closely related fields.
  • Strong project management experience, including supervision of technical staff and contractors.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.) and computer electrical design software (e.g., Trimble, AutoCAD).
  • Demonstrable experience of managing and coordinating electrical designs with other disciplines, particularly in the EVI sector.
  • A solid understanding of costing design methodologies and design approval processes.
  • Knowledge of testing, inspections, and quality control measures in accordance with relevant industry standards.
  • A proactive, adaptable, and collaborative attitude, with a commitment to mentoring and developing team members.

Additional Qualifications:

  • Previous experience in the highways electrical assets sector.
  • Experience with cabling design software (e.g., Trimble) and AutoCAD.
  • Ability to work effectively in a multidisciplinary team environment.
