About Bristol City Leap: Bristol City Leap is a pioneering 20-year partnership between Bristol City Council and Ameresco to accelerate green energy investment and decarbonize the city. This world-first initiative will dramatically increase renewable energy and low-carbon heat, creating a cleaner, healthier Bristol. Over the next five years, we plan to leverage an investment of nearly £500 million in solar, wind, heat networks, heat pumps, and energy efficiency to help Bristol in its goal of reaching carbon neutrality. We will also deliver £60 million in social value, including the creation of over 1,000 jobs, apprenticeships, and placements; £1.5m Community Energy Development Fund; inclusive transition through our EDI strategy and support for fuel poverty initiatives.
Role: The Senior Business Development Manager will play a key role in driving growth within the Bristol City Leap programme and Ameresco, focusing on the Commercial & Industrial sector. This position involves identifying new opportunities, managing client relationships, and delivering bespoke solutions in energy efficiency, renewable energy, and M&E services. This position is based in Bristol City Leap’s offices in Bristol, United Kingdom.
Key Responsibilities
- Identify and pursue new business opportunities within the C&I sector for energy efficiency, renewable energy, and M&E services.
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with key decision-makers, influencers, and stakeholders.
- Lead the sales process, including qualification, proposal development, and negotiation of contracts.
- Prepare and present compelling value propositions and commercial offers.
- Maintain accurate records in CRM systems and manage a robust sales pipeline.
- Represent the company at industry events, networking forums, and client meetings.
- Monitor market trends, competitor activity, and policy developments to inform strategy.
- Collaborate with internal teams to shape technical solutions aligned with client requirements and sustainability goals.
- Work closely with engineering and delivery teams during project development phases.
- Ensure smooth handover from sales to project execution.
Qualifications
- Proven track record in business development or sales within the energy services or M&E sector, preferably with a focus on C&I clients.
- Strong understanding of energy efficiency technologies, renewable energy solutions, and decarbonisation strategies.
- Excellent negotiation, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
- Experience managing complex sales cycles and securing high-value contracts.
- Familiarity with funding mechanisms, procurement processes and frameworks, and relevant regulations.
- Understanding and experience of responding to tenders from public or private sector.
Personal Attributes
- Commercially astute, customer-focused, and passionate about sustainability.
- Self-motivated with strong organisational skills and ability to work independently.
- Confident public speaker and relationship builder.
Minimum Qualifications
- Degree in Business, Engineering, Energy Management, or a related discipline (or equivalent experience).
- Experience in business development within energy services or M&E sectors.
