We are currently seeking a Finance Manager, Golf & Teamsports to join our Finance Team and partner with our business units in the areas of long-term strategy and short-term execution of the business. This role would be aligning the overall strategy to the financial targets and include budgeting, forecasting, expense management, reporting, and analysis. This role will be responsible for the customer P&L of the Golf & Teamsports Business Units and will work directly with the Business Unit EMEA Leadership and Director of EMEA Finance (FP&A). This role will be focused on EMEA profitability and building out full P&L analysis at the customer/account level and will be responsible for implementing the strategies into financial plans and measuring results against targets and KPIs. Responsible for managing, training, and developing the Golf & Teamsports finance team, consisting currently of one Business Analyst.

Specific responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • STRATEGY
    • Validate current year sales and margin forecasts by channel, product, and country; align forecasts with demand plans; and confirm alignment with strategic glidepaths.
    • Partner with EMEA leadership in developing strategic glidepaths.
    • Develop trackable KPIs that support both sales and investment plans for the strategic glidepaths.
    • Support the development of Wilson’s retail footprint providing financial insight to both the long-term strategy and short-term execution.
    • Develop detailed OpEx strategies and plans to continue to drive EBIT improvement for the Golf & Teamsports Business Units.
    • Work with the Territory Manager teams to build detailed plans for sales, customer deductions (gross-to-net), and SG&A that support the current year and long-term strategy.
    • Partner with leadership to optimize earnings through ongoing assessments of opportunities from gross-to-net-revenue and Key/Strategic Accounts SG&A.
    • Support changes in KA/SA pricing strategy; track and report on progress.
    • Develop business case template for customer opportunities – inclusive of projected revenue, margin, and investments to support growth at the customer level.
  • BUDGETING/FORECASTING
    • Partner with Business Units in sales and margin budgeting, creating alignment across channel, product category, and territory region.
    • Partner with the head of Softgoods Ecom EMEA in developing trackable KPIs that drive the Ecommerce sales forecast, and review OpEx investments driving Ecommerce sales.
    • Responsible for building annual spending budgets, confirming budgets support overall Business Unit strategic initiatives.
    • Partner with sales, commercial, and supply/demand functions in the monthly/quarterly reforecasting process.
    • Partner with key business partners in order to support the budgeting for Retail locations with regards to Sales, PGP and Opex planning.
    • Responsible for building annual spending budgets as well as monthly/quarterly reforecasts for EMEA KA/SA, confirming budgets support overall company strategic initiatives.
    • Monitor and report on the relationship between consumer sell-through and retailer inventory positions to help drive forecast accuracy.
  • ANALYSIS
    • Monthly review of Business Unit financial results and performance against targets and history.
    • Development and analysis of KPIs that drive Business Unit results.
    • Analysis of product category Sales and PGP versus targets and history, understanding the impact from channel mix, product mix, fx, cost inflation, and other drivers.
    • Support Retail organization in store footprint development, preparing financial models and pro-formas.
    • Detailed Opex reviews with Business partners, evaluating efficiency of spend and investments (including ROI and payback period analysis).
    • Development and Analysis of full P&L analysis for Key/Strategic Accounts. Understand the impact from customer mix, product mix, and other key drivers such as pricing, standard cost, trade terms, discounts, charge backs, and allowances.
    • Work closely with the Financial Controlling, Credit, and Accounting teams to create transparency around customer accruals and make sure customer deductions are recorded consistently, accurately, and timely.
    • Provide Ad Hoc financial support and analysis to key stakeholders.

Please note the successful applicant will be required to be in office up to two days weekly. Our office is located in Camberley, Surrey.

  • Advanced degree/MBA/CPA/CFA desired.
  • Accountancy qualification: CIMA preferred.
  • >5 years’ work experience and >2 years’ experience in a people management/leadership role in an accounting or finance environment preferred.
  • Multi-national brand experience or global experience preferred.
  • Retail/Ecommerce/D2C experience preferred.
  • Strong business acumen with structured, disciplined thinking (considers results, costs, efficiencies, performance, and quality).
  • Business partner mindset, suggests solutions and drives initiatives; ability to challenge current thinking and influence leadership; ability to consider the big picture as well as small details.
  • Strong ability to relate and network; excellent ability to communicate, persuade, influence, and negotiate when needed; manages conflict.
  • Ability to plan, organize and prioritize multiple competing tasks.
  • High energy level: ability to work in a dynamic, fast-paced environment with ease and composure.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Outlook).
  • Proficiency/familiarity with financial systems: SAP, Analysis for Office, Business Warehouse, SAP, SAC Analytics Cloud, Workday, Oracle/Smartview, PowerBI, OneStream a plus.
  • Ability to travel domestically and internationally 10%.
